ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. – The resurfacing project along Route 32 in Cornwall and Vails Gate will begin next week instead of next year, at the request of State Assemblyman James Skoufis.

Repaving will take place between the Moodna Creek Bridge and Five Corners in Vails Gate. Phase one of the project was completed this summer when drainage issues were corrected.

“This very welcome news is the culmination of significant work and advocacy,”  Skoufis said in a statement. “The section of Route 32 between the bridge and Five Corners has been in a state of disrepair; this much-needed work has been a top infrastructure priority of mine and I am pleased to see it moved forward.”

Along with the Route 32 project, Skoufis secured funding and commitments this year to repair a number of roadways: Route 218 was repaved in September; rehabilitation of the Palisades Parkway will be completed by next month; Old Route 17 N/S from the edge of Woodbury through Tuxedo will be resurfaced this year; and Route 9W in Cornwall and Highlands will be repaved in the spring.
